Though newly constructed in 2011, the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende blends right in with the historic Spanish structures of Mexico’s most iconic colonial town. The rose-hued limestone property, which is set on a picturesque hill above cobblestone streets and pastel-colored villas, is an authentic interpretation of the city’s handcrafted haciendas, with its cantera-stone colonnades, arched porticos, and courtyards crowned with bubbling fountains.

Inside, wrought iron, tooled leather, and dark wood adorn the 67 guest rooms and suites, each of which features a balcony or patio with views of the bright-pink spires of the town church or the distant foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. On cool evenings, guests wrapped in pashminas sip blue-agave tequila at the Luna rooftop bar; during the summer, fruit-infused margaritas are served in custom-blown glasses. More local indulgences can be found at the spa, where therapies include a mole-spice-and-cocoa scrub, and at the 1826 restaurant, which helped launch San Miguel’s newfound farm-to-table movement.
